One can hardly be surprised when Ivanka Trump’s behavior provokes a backlash. Namely, she claimed she was “first lady“, which led Melania to a backlash against her.
“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and The President,” the first lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said in a statement. “She loves living in Washington, DC and is honored by her role as First Lady of the United States. She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. unfortunately, only attention seeking and self-serving noise.”
Ivana Trump claimed in an interview, Monday on “Good Morning America” that she was “first lady.”
“I have the direct number to White House, but I no really want to call him there because Melania is there,” Ivana Trump said.
“I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that,” she continued, “because I’m basically first Trump wife. I’m first lady, OK?”
Ivana Trump is promoting her book, “Raising Trump,” set to be published Tuesday. The book documents her marriage to the future president and raising their three children — Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric.
The pair married in 1977 and divorced in the early 1990s, when it was revealed Donald Trump was having an affair with his future second wife, Marla Maples.
Donald and Melania Trump have been married since 2005.
