Earlier today, Donald Trump attacked his own Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, for an extremely ridiculous reason—for not focusing the investigation into assumed FISA abuse to the Department of Justice’s inspector general instead.
Whining that the inspector general was an “Obama guy”, Trump trashed Sessions for the entire world to see on Twitter. Trump wrote:
Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!”
As usual, Trump is expected to be repentant for sending that tweet.
Just a few hours later, Sessions fired back and released his own statement, in ac of response to the president’s morning attack. Sessions said:
We have initiated the appropriate process that will ensure complaints against this Department will be fully and fairly acted upon if necessary. As long as I am the Attorney General, I will continue to discharge my duties with integrity and honor, and this Department will continue to do its work in a fair and impartial manner according to the law and Constitution.”
Apparently, Trump still hasn’t learned that he shouldn’t end relationships with members of his own team.
Sessions’ response is a direct attack on Trump, and it seems like the relations in the White House are souring at a disturbing speed.
Trump’s attack a sick action against Sessions the president’s part, as Sessions has now conversed that he can’t be bullied by him. But unluckily this will hardly be the end of Trump’s pity party.
Never one to back down from trivial fight, we are all aware that Trump will just continue to dig himself in an unpleasant situation by constantly attacking his own team.
