According to a statement issued on Friday, the movie mogul, Harvey Weinstein broke his silence from rehab to argue about Kenyan-Mexican actress Lupita Nyong’o’s allegations that he sexually assaulted and harassed her.
As Fox News reports, Weinstein’s assistant released a statement in which he provided his response to Nyong’o’s claims that he sexually harassed her in 2011. While being accused from more than 59 women by now, for sexual assault and harassment, Weinstein decided to respond only to actress Lupita Nyong’o’s claims against him.
“Mr. Weinstein has a different recollection of the events, but believes Lupita is a brilliant actress and a major force for the industry. Last year, she sent a personal invitation to Mr. Weinstein to see her in her Broadway show Eclipsed,” the statement read.
The New York Times published an op-ed written by Nyong, where she recalls to her personal experiences of alleged sexual harassment from Weinstein. The accusations arise from the producer asking her for a nude massage while his children were home and attempting to tempt her into having sex with him.
